VisionsOne
Youth Foundation’s
First Annual
“Save Our Schools” 2005
Walk‑A‑Thon
Saturday, February 12, 2005
Our annual walk-a-thon is a fun and
fit activity for kindergartners through adult age, with children reaching for their personal best distance. Participants set realistic mile goals based on age and development. Drinks will be provided, and each student
will receive a token of participation.
Our goal is to help the fundraising
committee raise at least $5,000 to fund After-School Programs within Oakland, California. We
hope that each family will participate in the walk-a-thon to the best of its ability. If 100 family raise $50, we will achieve
our goal. We’re hoping to make this walk-a-thon the best ever, so the more contributions we raise; the more successful
we’ll be at achieving our goal. Thank you very much for your participation!
Rules
1. Participants may
start collecting pledges as soon as they receive the pledge sheets. Reminder: Pledge sheets need to be turned in on walk-a-thon day, Saturday, February 12, 2005.
2. Pledges may be made by anyone. However, participants may not ask for pledges from any of the staff
members of VisionsOne Youth Foundation. Please
ask everyone who pledges if their company has a matching gift fund policy
3. Each sponsor making a pledge should write their own name, pledge per 1/3 mile,
and maximum pledge. Participants may collect the pledge in advance but must keep pledges until all are collected.
4. On walk-a-thon day,
each person will walk during a specified time period around Lake
Merritt. Each 1/3 mile is considered a lap. The completion of the entire
Lake will be considered as walking 3-4 laps. Each
participant will be issued a “lap tag,” which will be punched each time the participant reaches the starting point,
thereby keeping track of the number of laps completed.
5. No running or jogging
will be allowed. Participants are encouraged to wear hats and sunscreen if it’s sunny or bring rain gear if it’s
rainy.
We look forward
to all our participants having a great time! For questions or to volunteer, call Laurissa Wells, Executive Director at (415)-368-8107.
